“UTOPIA”IN ŠVÝCÁRNA CZECHIA  DECEMBER 02-13 2019  !CLOSED!

The  project was created by young people for young people. Utopia refers to ideal on something that is almost unreachable. With a youth exchange, we will try to come closer to the ideal based on our views, needs and solutions, which we will search together during the course of the youth exchange. The youth group that shaped this project has identified increased interest of individuals and the general public in recent months, including political actors for environmental issues, especially in the field of handling (plastic) waste, and consequently calling people to more sustainable behavior.

The young people thus perceived the need to contribute to the solutions themselves, because we are aware that we are all part of the problem and also part of the solution. For this purpose, we decided to combine the power of young people from Romania, Portugal, Italy, Latvia and Czechia and proposed concrete solutions for unsustainable practices of individuals, and especially institutions / organizations, which usually set good examples for the individual. With the youth exchange of which the central theme is a zero waste concept and sustainable practices, we want to create an interactive graphic simulation, which will include practical advices, how to bring simple and small solutions closer to the sustainable practices and to integrate them into the functioning of institutions and our everyday life. An interactive graphic simulation will be part of the online Youthopia virtual website where other information on particular youth exchange, partner organizations and blogs of participants on sustainability topics will be found. By setting up the website, we want to achieve the sustainability of the project, since it will give the participants the opportunity to express their opinions on the blog, and at the same time, new findings in the field of sustainable concepts should always be included in the updated interactive graphical simulation.

The main activity of the project will be a youth exchange, which will take place in Švýcárna in Czechia .  In a nine days time, using informal learning methods for young people, we will show the importance of active citizenship and the power that we have as individuals and especially as a group with the same goal. We will also learn about current sustainable practices in different countries and transfer them to an interactive graphic simulation. While interacting with others and with the local community, we will discover the benefits and challenges of Europe’s intercultural character; and raise awareness in questioning our attitude to diversity. We will try to reach the utopia according to young people firstly in a virtual way, but we should mention that solutions which will apply to The city of Youthopia can also be used in our local environments. We hope to bring the utopian practices created in and for virtual world also to practices in our local realities in order for utopia to become sustainable reality.

INTERNATIONAL TRAINING COURSE IN GREECE “REFUGEES HAVE NO OPTION, YOU DO!”THESSALONIKI NOVEMBER 12-20  !CLOSED!

According with J. Krishnamurti the crisis of our society stems from a crisis of the educational system, which, instead of awakening the individual’s intelligence, leads him to conform to a pre-established model based on the official education system. This process of approval and passive acceptance of the surrounding reality, without a healthy questioning of the proposed models, leads the individual to adapt to a sterile society without help him to discover his own psychological process, encouraging an attitude of passivity where “others”, are always different from us, considered always as a threat. Our contemporary world is experiencing a period of great change, where next to the ongoing social transformations are needed parallel personal paths of evolution. Alongside the social policies to find the balance, we need to carry on a process of personal growth and awareness that starts from each individual. Photography, as a medium, can contribute to this process of identification and personal evolution, becoming an instrument through which to look and see the world, helping to create the basis for a more conscious and active attitude. Photography can become a bridge-contact between us and others as well as being an authentic communication tool; tool that can give voice to our thoughts, putting us in connection – human – in an authentic way. Photography is a universal language, without linguistic and geographical boundaries, suitable for intercultural experiences between people from different countries. “Refugees have no option, you do!” is a project that uses the photographic instrument as a tool, like a “bridge” between participants and what is the thematic reference: migration policies that are literally transforming our world and bringing to the surface fears and limitations to which all of us we are living to.

YOUTH MEETING ERASMUS + “#HOPE. HELP OTHERS PROMOTE ENTREPRENEURSHIP” DRUSKININKAI, LITHUANIA NOVEMBER 10-18 !CLOSED!

“Hope! – help others promote entrepreneurship“– Our project is a Youth Exchange, which will focus on the topic of youth employment. We noticed that we face a problem in our daily youth work: a high youth unemployment rate and a low awareness of the entrepreneurial potential, tools and skills, both in urban and rural areas and it very often directly leads to social and economic isolation of young people. Often the experience is required for the jobs they apply for, but they are not able to gain this experience without being employed.

This results in wasting their talents and skills that have been developed for many years with a great effort to themselves and the community. Young people who we meet in our daily work have shared with us their observation and experience that achieving higher education is no longer a guarantee of getting better job.

After a long time of struggling many of them lose their motivation.
During this project all the participants will be supported in developing new skills, exchanging their experiences and ideas as well as gaining more knowledge concerning youth entrepreneurship. Becoming an entrepreneur is not an easy path, but it allows young individuals to define their own future avoiding the unclear fate of being driven by others’ decisions and collecting refusals.
The main aim of the project is helping attendees to build up their understanding and competences concerning entrepreneurial learning as well as promoting entrepreneurship in their youth work, both in rural and urban areas.

INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY “ENHANCING MEDIA LITERACY”CORK,IRELAND NOVEMBER 20-28 2019 !CLOSED!

Mass media is a powerful force in forming our perception of reality. The recent technological developments have brought profound changes to the way we access and consume information from the various media platforms. Today, most people if not everyone connected to the Internet can post information, pictures, videos and comments which can go viral. This means that they can potentially reach millions of people around the world and influence their attitude to a given issue. The digital revolution can empower but this power comes with great responsibility. In various parts of Europe and neighbouring countries young people face different challenges related to media literacy, i.e. exposure to media bias, hate speech, cyber-bullying, grassroots xenophobia propagated by media and social networks.

This project aims to empower youth workers and youth activists to become conscious media and news consumers, to apply their critical thinking skills and to contribute to more inclusive and tolerant societies through non-formal education methods.

Considering the current migrant and refugee crises in Europe, we propose to analyse the role and impact of mass media messages in creating a stereotypical image of a migrant or a newcomer.

OUR AIM
– to understand how and why media content is produced – to make distinctions between different types of media content (news
journalism, propaganda, promotion, entertainment, etc.)
– to explore the crucial elements of a reliable journalist’s craft (balance, reliability, usage of proper sources)
– to learn to evaluate the reliability of sources and to approach any information critically
– to explore the interrelation between media messages and tolerance/intolerance in our societies, especially in regard to the topic of
migrant and refugee crisis
– to learn how to distinguish between media and audience bias
– to promote the core EU values and cooperation under the Erasmus+ programme.

INTERNATIONAL YOUTH EXCHANGE „ MULTISKILLS CAROUSEL”GREȘU, VRANCEA,ROMANIA  OCTOBER 20-31 !CLOSED!

This project addresses the topic of unemployment in youngsters, since in 2019, the rate of unemployed 18-24 year-olds in the EU-28 area is around 14%, that is 3.3 million young people (18-24 years) who do not have a job.

The purpose of “Multi-skills Carousel” youth exchange is to create a secure environment in which participants will be able to use elements of non-formal education for their personal and professional development so that to increase their chances of integration into the labor market, as well as to perform better in school/university. That means that you, as a participant, will have the opportunity to develop your professional competences and soft skills in a special context, which is opposed to the academic/main stream school format and we can assure you that the learning process will be fun and nobody is getting bored in our project 🙂 That doesn’t mean that we disregard school, not at all. We just offer a complementary way to help your better yourself.

How will we do this?

We will first make sure that you all get to know each other enough so you will afterwards work in teams at your full potential. We will also get deeper into the topic of our project through analyzing the facts and realities from the communities you live in and that means that you will have to do a little homework on this. Don’t worry, this is not something as a the regular homework we know from school, and you will do it in national teams. More on this will follow at a later time.

Then you will also get the chance to work things out in a more artistic way, as there will be times when you’ll have to act, sing or dance. No worries, nobody is forced to do anything that they don’t feel comfortable with. However, it is you who will have to run the activities so all this lies on your creativity, initiative, energy, team spirit attitude and the willingness to improve yourselves in a friendly environment.

ERASMUS PLUS PROJECT “BE SUSTAINABLE, DON’T WASTE” BULGARIA,STARA ZAGORA IN SEPTEMBER 12-20 !CLOSED!

The idea of this training course came up naturally, as a continuation of the “Be sustainable, don’t WASTE your future” TC, held in Stara Zagora Bulgaria in March 2018.

The impact this first training course had on the participating youth workers and their organizations was outstanding. Months after the TC ended, the participants are still active in the Facebook group we created – sharing innovative solutions, good practices, events, their own achievements, etc. This made us realize how important this topic is, and that we can continue working for developing a “sustainable mindset” and involve even more organizations and more youth workers.

The motto of “Be sustainable don’t waste your future Part 2” is “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”.
We want to put the emphasis on the fact that a single thing that is made of many separate parts can be more important, more useful, more beautiful, or in some other way “greater” than all of the separate parts on their own. Together we can make a greater impact.

These are some pictures from “Be Sustainable” part 1 project:

-Active participation, decision-making
These themes have been defined with youth who comes in our structure because recently (November 2017) we have installed a little youth local just in front of the skate park of our municipality. Thus, new youth with a more accessible profile on urban sports and street art were interested in the actions carried out by our association and for certain the discovery European youth exchange. Highly motivated by this opportunity to share their passion and their culture it is quite natural that they set up with the support of our association a youth exchange in Brittany, during the summer of 2018. They were able to share their passion, to discover their environment and thus achieve all the objectives they had set. Following the success of the exchange, the young Bulgarians immediately wanted to propose an exchange of young people in Bulgaria. -Encourage and enable youth to become actors in their exchange by promoting active participation and involvement in a common project
-Show and explain your own culture through several workshops and actions focused on street art, sports, stéréotypes …
-Promote and develop the skills of youth in the different areas covered for the conception, implementation and achievement of this exchange
By involving youth in the conception of the project, we want them to create their exchange together and that everyone can find their place by proposing their ideas in different fields. The youth will be in mixed groups (of nationalities) and will have to create together a “show” of 15 min maximum that they will have to present on a stage in front of an audience as part of a presentation of the exchange to the inhabitants of Buhovo on 05/08. This meeting will be organized for the youth and families of the participants (as well as some elected according to their summer calendar) and is an integral part of this youth exchange project. Young people are invloved in developing this project.

Young around the world have very different lives and ways of living. People have different belief systems e.g. cultural beliefs; political beliefs etc and usually live their lives according to what they believe to be right and/or wrong. Culture is learned behaviors, traditions, beliefs and a way of life created by a group of people.

Our world is constantly changing, and it’s filled with a variety of people that have developed many diverse cultures. People often follow the rules of their countries; make statements about other nationality; make stereotypes and prejudices. Learning to live with and respect others’ cultures and backgrounds is important.

Prejudice is not genetically installed; it is rather a learned behavior. History has shown what people are capable of, when prejudice is not broken down and intolerance prevails in societies. Along with outright injustice and violence, discrimination and marginalization are common forms of intolerance.

This time we will meet in Trzcianka, where among the forest landscapes we will be able to actively establish intercultural dialogue, find the role of tradition in the lives of modern young people and use the idea of volunteering to refute prejudices against migration and migrants. With APV planned before our project will be a well-prepared joint work of young people. The aim of the project is to activate young people to act for the benefit of others and to build bonds of understanding between nations. The mentioned traditions and volunteering will be tools for getting to know each other and cooperation. The subject of the exchange is a substantive approach to migration and refugees. As part of the project, we want to prepare and conduct a public opinion survey inside and outside the group to check the change in understanding the motives of migration and overcoming prejudices thanks to our presence in Trzcianka. Through workshops conducted by partners, as well as expert workshops, various volunteering activities and outdoor activities stimulating integration and motivating to action, we hope to achieve the assumed results in the form of opinion polls, changes in attitudes as well as purely promotional and visibility-enhancing effects projects in the form of photos and professional video. We also hope that the history of the White River will also pour out in the local communities of partner organizations, where each of the representatives will share the project’s results during meetings held after the exchange. What’s more, the location of the project in neighborhood of lakes and forest will bring us closer to the most recognizable traditions and will significantly affect the promotion of our country, mobilizing guests to fully engage in the preparation of their cultural evenings. “Long Lake Story” will be remembered by the participants for a long time, a history of themselves, a part of their lives that will shape them significantly, because they will be people without European experience in which the project will instill the motivation for European integration.

INTERNATIONAL MEETING “IMAGE IN THE GLOBAL WORLD” IN POLAND NOWY SĄCZ MAŁOPOLSKIE !CLOSED!

The project “Image in the global world” aims to overcome barriers related to the otherness of people living in another country, language barriers, stereotypes, awareness of gender equality in the aspect of fashion, image creation and looking after.

It will also be linked to intercultural exercises and reflections on your behavior and how we are perceived by others.

Building your image is very important in building your career, presenting yourself on the labor market as well as in other circumstances.

The main methods by which we will operate and fulfill the planned points in cooperation with the partner are: observation, discussion, group work, cooperation, trial and error, search, transfer of knowledge, or mutual learning through cooperation, intercultural exercises.

Youth provided for several events with local population as well as social activists and representatives of self-government authorities as well as participation in an open sports event to be able to present their culture, history and, above all, the effects of their activities, such as photo exhibition, show of stylization and others. In addition, in order to spread the results of the project, we plan to create an electronic version of the styling guide for different occasions and creating the image. Also, the materials prepared for 10 days will be taken to their countries to be presented among peers and placed on websites. Similarly with the guide we want to make available to others.

Cooperation with the media will also allow the project to live in the media and be used by others. As long-term benefits, we see openness to the world, new cultures, languages, paying attention to how we are perceived, how we should adapt our outfit and appearance to certain circumstances. It is also for us the opportunity to meet peers from another country. Polish youth comes from families with low material status, is at risk of marginalization and pathology. Participation in the project gives a chance to counteract the effects of the environment.

“COMBATING RACISM, XENOPHOBIA AND DISCRIMINATION”BARLETTA , ITALIA 06-14 MAY   !CLOSED!

The training course “Combating racism, xenophobia and discrimination – Digital Tool Box” aims to provide youth leaders and educators with new ideas for workshops and training sessions in their work with marginalized young people facing discrimination in their community.

Nowadays discrimination takes many forms in modern Europe. People are discriminated for origin, their religion, sexual orientation, their skin color, their gender, and even the school they visited and the district they live in.

Discrimination often translates into fewer chances for personal development, weakened self-confidence and as a consequence of limited opportunities for employment. For these reasons many civil society organizations work in the field of anti discrimination by fostering tolerance and aiming to empower young people to overcome the societal stereotypes that hamper the personal freedom and right for self-development.

Along this line, the training course intends to share methods of anti-discrimination work with its participants in order to strengthen their daily work with young people. Workshops, simulation exercises, role plays and debates will be exercised with the participants to give them a learning experience and to explain them their strength and weaknesses.

The participants will receive time to design own exercises based on the made experiences can be applied within their programme activities on local level or in international encounters.

“BACK TO THE FUTURE “YOUTH MEETING IN GEORGIA BAKURIANI MAY   04-14    2019 !CLOSED!

The Youth Exchange project “Back to the Future” aims at raising awareness about agriculture and eco-farming, sustainable development, entrepreneurship and possibilities of self-employment, multiculturalism and intercultural dialogue among the youth (aged 16-18) who have not yet made professional choices and are searching for different possibilities for development and self-expression.

Empowering them with the basic skills of eco farming through non-formal learning and let them explore advantages of rural life and sustainable development can positively effect on their daily choices. To let them understand that our choices matter. Small choices in everyday life and co- operation are important not only for their personal development but also to reach great global goals like as final deposition of the waste products, and environmental effects (because important affects as the environmental are the economical, social, cultural and global aspects of food production). It is important to share between the young people the best practices of multifunctional farming (inclusive and sustainable) as a means of combating depopulation of rural areas.

At same time faced with an ageing farming population, the European Union (EU) is stepping up its efforts to encourage young people to take up the baton. Young farmers are given a helping hand to get their business off the ground with start-up grants and other financial and practical support such as trainings. Supporting the next generation of European farmers not only enhances the future competitiveness of European agriculture, it also helps guarantee Europe’s food supplies for years to come. Yet only 6% of all farm holdings in Europe are run by farmers under 35 – and getting more young people interested in farming is a big challenge. And about 16% of the EU’s working population were self-employed in 2014. That’s why promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship is an important way of creating new jobs and enhancing the labor market opportunities for the unemployed and other disadvantaged groups.

But unemployment is not the only challenge modern society is facing. Observation of the ongoing globalization shows that diversity of modern societies may lead to misunderstandings and conflict based on cultural differences. But on the other hand, cultural activities can provide an open environment for meeting others and discussing complex issues around cultural difference. In this perspective, cultural heritage can have an important role for community cohesion and cross- community conflict resolution in a creative and reflective environment. Working with the young generation is crucial in that sense.
Analyzing all those challenges experienced youth workers and consultants of in the field of non formal education believe this is the program designed to encourage young people to become the next generation of European farmers and entrepreneurs, active citizens and contributors of peace building process in general.

INTERNATIONAL TRAINING COURSE “A LIFE WITHOUT FILTERS“ SAMOBOR, CROATIA  APRIL 13-19 2019 !CLOSED!

The use of technology among youth is becoming more prominent every day. Although technology through media and electronic gadgets are able to help youth to gain vast amounts of knowledge, teach them how to be independent and give them access to educational resources; there are some negative influences that are accompanied with the positive ones which should not be neglected.
Introducing technology to youth at young age can have adverse effects in their personal lives, their relationships with others, and their health in the future. It can also lead youth to social isolation and give rise to other serious physical and mental diseases such as obesity, computer vision syndrome and depression (Alghamdi, 2016.).

A comprehensive new study called #StatusOfMind, which was released May 2017 by the Royal Society for Public Health, examined the effects of social media on young people’s health and brought conclusions on 5 negative effects that social media has on young people: it increases their anxiety and depression, it is leading to poor sleep, negatively affects their body image, increases the risk of cyberbullying and a “fear of missing out”.

Objectives of this project are:
To increase knowledge of participants on the effects of technology on youth (benefits and risks);
To increase knowledge and awareness of occurrences related to technology use which are harmful for youth (excessive use, misinformation, promotion of hatred and violence);
To equip participants with tools and methods to transfer the negative effects of technology into learning opportunities for youth, that will have a positive impact on their personal and professional development;
To develop new youth work approaches for technology education of youth, based on collaborative learning environments, problem and project based instruction as well as interdisciplinary learning;

YOUTH EXCHANGE  “ENTREPRENEURIAL CULTURE FOR TODAY’S YOUTH” LITHUANIA APRIL 13-20 2019 !CLOSED!

Youth entrepreneurship is a growing phenomenon that has become a framework for teaching the 21st century work and life skills essential for success in today’s job market. With today’s youth hiding behind iPhones and MacBooks, technology is being used as a crutch for social interaction among peers and superiors alike. Due to this lack of face-to-face contact, such necessary skills as effective communication and how to deliver a proper handshake are not being learned and leveraged for professional success.
What if there is a way to gainfully become an entrepreneur who has an innate ability to not only take charge of a project, but perpetuate teamwork and collaboration; increase morale and activate untapped creativity among co-workers? For this and other questions we will find the answers during a Youth Exchange Project “Entrepreneurial Culture for Today’s Youth” (“ect.youth”).

During “ect.youth” aspiring entrepreneurs will be taught key entrepreneurial practices, such as customer development and creation. They will be armed with interpersonal and interpersonal skills of collaboration, communication, creative-thinking, time and project management that make up efficient young professionals.
For reaching project goals we will use various work methods in order to establish the best
conditions for learning during this Youth Exchange Project: introduction, cognition, explanation of experience, motivation, stimulation, active learning, assessment (and self-assessment), reflection, discussion, creative solution, group reports, group work, and other practical methods.

TRAINING COURSE “SOCIAL INCLUSION OF YOUNG PEOPLE WITH FEWER OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH SPORTS” FUNCHAL, PORTUGAL  APRIL  03-11 2019 !CLOSED!

Sport is beneficial for young people in different ways. It is not only contributing to their physical health, but also giving them experience and skills that are essential for everyday life, such as leadership, team work, fair play, cooperation, dealing with different types of challenges and working towards achieving a goal.

This is also highly important for young people with fewer opportunities, who are facing much more difficulties, especially when it comes to developing social skills and active participation. Using sports for social inclusion of such youth can be a powerful method. However, most of organisations are having lack of experience, tools, and knowledge in order to implement such kind of activities, even though sport and youth work have similar objectives, among which – improving the overall quality of life for young people in their communities.

Based on the needs of participating organisations to build their capacities, the aim of the project is to share and be trained in methodologies for using sport as an educational method to reach specific aims with fewer-opportunity target groups. The training course will also give the participants, youth workers from partner organisations, a chance to develop European sportthemed activities for young people with fewer opportunities through the European youth programmes.

It is present in our national politics and it is present in our countries international relations. The past years especially the question of refugees and migration has taken a large place locally, nationally and internationally.
So what position do we as youth take in this big, fast moving and unequal world?
Youth has through time been change makers. A position we should remember and practice through creating and using platforms for theyouth to meet, for the youth to ask questions and for the youth to make a change.
The project will do this by asking the question: What is solidarity today and how can we practice it in our lives?
To answer this question we will try to understand the following:
– How has the current refugee situation in the world and in Europe developed?
– What influences has the current refugee situation had and how has it been handled in Europe?
– How can youth be active citizens and why should we?
– How can we create an international online platform for civic engagement?
We will do this in Turkey, the country that is currently hosting the largest number of refugees in the World.
