SUSTAIN THE RURAL WORLD„ ULLDEMOLINS (SOUTH OF CATALUNYA) IN SPAIN THE HANDBOOK IS FINALLY READY!!
🌍 La Bastida has recently tackled the challenge of rural areas’ decline through a European project focused on youth empowerment. With the support of Erasmus+, an international seminar was organized in Ulldemolins, where young people from various European organizations shared experiences, challenges, and best practices.
🏞 The initiative focused on the importance of involving young people as agents of change in rural realities. Through workshops, discussions, and presentations, concrete proposals emerged to address challenges related to the decline of rural areas.
🤝 During the seminar, key concepts such as rural identity, participation, and intersectionality were explored. Additionally, best practices were shared from youth organizations across Europe, providing a comprehensive overview of ongoing initiatives.
📚 The tangible result of the experience is a “handbook” that gathers collective reflections, definitions of rurality, local context, theory, and best practices. This manual, a product of the collaboration of participants, offers concrete proposals to address challenges and support the rural world.
🌈 The intense week in Ulldemolins was a enriching experience, contributing to La Bastida’s growth as a cooperative, as a team, and as individuals. Special thanks to La Somereta for hospitality and to the group for the motivation and contributions that made this experience unforgettable.

Next Generation of Youth Leaders 2. A YOUTH EXCHANGE IN BULGARIA
🗓️ Next Generation of Youth Leaders 2 🌟 🌟 Golden Sands, 24th of June – 1st of July 🌟
🌟 Introduction 🌟
If I could describe the experience I lived between the 24th of June and the 1st of July, I would say it was full of energy, an occasion to know myself, an opportunity to define my future.
Hi! I’m Filomena and I participated in the project “NEXT GENERATION OF YOUTH LEADERS 2” in Golden Sands, Varna, Bulgaria. 🌍✨
🎉 Activities 🎉
After the arrival on the 24th, the day after I was able to get to know the other participants through speed talks about random topics with some of them: this was very useful as an icebreaker together with the activities. One of them was about asking questions to the other participants to understand which fruit 🍎🍌 or number 🔢 was given to oneself, while the other was the so-called “mission impossible” activity which consisted of accomplishing different tasks in a group, such as making a video 📹 about the project, taking a photo 📷 with an animal 🐾, choosing a song 🎵 and dancing to it, and so on. We were also introduced to the intermediators, the hosting organization, and the concept of “growth mindset” which is fundamental for leadership and continuous improvement. 💪🌱
On Monday, after another activity to get to know each other, which consisted of composing our names taking the letters from other participants’ ones and asking them questions to obtain them, we were presented with a recap of the first part of the project and we focused on the different countries’ realities, analyzing the difficulties, the support given by the government, and how to open one. 🌐🌍
You can find the recap attached: 📌
Recap of Part 1 – NGYL2 📑
and the countries’ situation about non-profit companies: 📌
Countries’ Realities – NGO & Non-Profit Field 🌍💼
In the evening, we were divided into groups and worked on the different aspects of preparing a workshop. I was part of Group 3, which focused on the best way to prepare a project. We worked on this until the 27th of June when we presented what we had discussed and focused on. On the same day, we were involved in an activity about cooperation, involvement, communication, and inclusion. The objective was to reach a goal together, involving everyone and using creativity. It was confusing at the beginning, but once we understood what to do, it was very fun and it connected us more as a group. 🤝🌈
On Tuesday, we divided into groups for the preparation of workshops on chosen topics. I chose “Gender Discrimination” and started to define the first fundamental points with my group. 💬🚺
Here’s the link to our workshop preparation: 📌
Workshop Preparation – NGYL2 – Gender Discrimination 💻📝
After the preparation,
from 19:30 to 20:30, we presented our countries during the intercultural night. We shared presentations and indulged in delicious food. It was an incredible experience to learn about different realities, play kahoots, and share the best of our traditions. 🌍🌍🎉
On the 28th, the Italian team prepared breakfast, including Nutella with bread, Bauli croissant, milk with Nesquik, and more. The day was free, so we split into different groups to visit different places. I went to explore the center of Golden Sands, where I had the opportunity to talk with people living and working near the sea. We also took photos with them as we shared our Erasmus+ experience. It was a beautiful exchange of stories, and I encouraged one girl who had heard about Erasmus projects to participate. 🌞📸🤝
On Thursday, we had the opportunity to present our workshops. It was amazing to see everyone create workshops on their topics using so much creativity. It was also funny to participate in each of them and learn more in the process. My group organized a workshop where we exchanged post-its, sharing experiences of gender discrimination. The discussions revealed different views, and the feedback from Henrique Antunes, the intermediator, was invaluable. The presentations continued the next day, during which we also received the youthpass and said goodbye. It was a very emotional moment, and we reviewed what had happened throughout the week with a video made by Nikolay Nikolov. 🎭🎉📝
🍽️ Food and Accommodation 🛏️
I really liked the accommodation and the food served at the place where we spent the week. Initially, there were some problems with water, but they were subsequently fixed. Overall, I appreciated having a dedicated room for the activities. The terrace and the pool became a place for us to sit and talk together. 🏨💦🏊♂️
The only thing I didn’t like about staying in a hotel was that during lunch and dinner, we had to split into different groups and sit at different tables. This wasn’t favourable for forming connections, especially at the beginning. 👥❌
🔧 Organization 🔧
The organization was top-notch! We followed the schedule, and when there were changes, we were quickly informed. We were provided with all the materials for our work and activities, and assistance was available for any problems. In general, it was an amazing experience because the organizers always tried to understand the participants’ needs, helped us, and left space for creativity. 📆✨🙌
Thank you to everyone involved in making this project a memorable and transformative experience! 🌟🌍💪

“Utilize IT” A TRAINING COURSE IN HUNGARY
It is time to share our project, “Utilize IT”. The training course took place in Szeged, Hungary between 19-26 April, 2023. The project aimed to encourage youth workers to use digital tools and digital technology to reach and involve young people more effectively enhancing in this way also their work’s quality.
Digital youth work is a set of activities within the field of youth work that utilize digital technologies and tools to engage young people. Its aim is to harness the opportunities provided by the internet and new media to connect with young individuals and organize relevant, engaging, and interactive activities. Digital youth work encompasses online groups, virtual events, online games, educational content, and the production of interactive and creative digital materials. It strives to help young people safely and effectively navigate the online space, foster the development of digital skills, and promote active, creative, and critical digital citizenship.
🌍 Digital youth work has experienced rapid growth in Europe, particularly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the adoption and implementation of digital youth work practices vary across countries, there is a general recognition of the significance of digital skills and the integration of digital technologies in youth work. Factors such as technological accessibility, the needs of young people, and the priorities of youth organizations and policymakers influence the adoption of digital youth work practices in Cyprus. In France, digital youth work is dynamic and evolving, with numerous initiatives and organizations operating in this domain.
However, the absence of a centralized database or registry poses challenges in assessing the exact scope of digital youth work programs. Hungary, Italy, Portugal, and Croatia have also recognized the importance of digital youth work but face distinct development needs and opportunities. To enhance digital youth work in these countries, key measures include increasing funding, developing user-friendly online platforms, fostering partnerships, providing training, conducting research, and offering mentorship opportunities.
💡 Implementing the aforementioned recommendations will contribute to the expansion and enhancement of digital youth work in the future. These initiatives are vital for equipping young people with essential digital skills and enabling them to effectively navigate the digital realm. By promoting digital inclusion, fostering partnerships, and providing adequate support and resources, digital youth work can empower young individuals and contribute to their personal and professional development.
THE RESULT OF YOUNG AUDIOVISUAL YOUTH EXCHANGE PART #1, PART #2 AND #3
We kick-started this year with three stages of Young Audiovisual Youth Exchanges, gathering 108 participants and leaders from the UK 🇬🇧, Greece 🇬🇷, Italy 🇮🇹, Lithuania 🇱🇹, Spain 🇪🇸, Romania 🇷🇴, Bulgaria 🇧🇬. Curious to learn audiovisuals, artists and creatives came together for this project to co- create and learn about themselves, teach others how to discover and go deeper into their true identity and brand and have hands-on experience producing videos in this fast-paced world.
All the videos made during this project are collected in one inspirational playlist where you can meet and get to know the people who created them, learn some things about personal growth, and get inspired to start your audio-visual journey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7e7zkrocWPo&list=PLwSElUtbh69voEt876dzCzA6jK-
Everyone has a unique perspective on the world and the ability to share it with the rest of us. This individuality is what we want you to bring. No matter if you are a nerd 🤓 or a drag queen 👑, you already are what the world wants to see. In this Youth Exchange, we embraced our oddness and create videos to discover our authentic selves, as well as empower others to do the same. Participants say: “They had a strict schedule (I expected Erasmus projects are all about partying and international exchange, so I was very surprised they demanded so many things and activities from us) which made me create a lot of videos within a small time, and I realized that creating videos is not that hard after all.” 🎥😄 ” “We often worked together in groups, so we experienced expressing ourselves to the others, to listen to the others in order to find a common point. We filmed a lot of different videos, so we learned how to film them, then how to edit them and to add sounds and that kind of stuff.” 🎬🎥🔊
“This youth exchange gave me the possibility to get to know different people from different countries. From the first day, we started talking and finding out things about other cultures that we never knew. In addition to this, working in groups increased my abilities of leadership and to listen to other ideas and come to an agreement. I met a bunch of beautiful people here, and I learned a lot about video making and self-branding.” 🌍🤝💡 “This workshop provided a platform to gather people from all over Europe and get some creative work done. It helps connect people from different cultural backgrounds and grow our knowledge of photography and videography.” 🌟📷🎬

SPORTS VALUES AND YOUNG ENTREPRENEURSHIPS . A YOUTH EXCHANGE IN SPAIN
Flamingos a la Fuente Sports Values and Young Entrepreneurship Fuente de Piedra 10th-18th May Project Summary Our Names are Filomena Scirocco, Filippo Altea, Cosimo De Tommaso and Vincenzo Ferrante and from 10th of May 2023 to 18th of May of 2023 we participated as italian team in the Youth Exchange Program “SPORTS VALUES APPLIED TO YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP” which took place in Fuente de Piedra, a little city in the province of Malaga.
Workshops and activities After the introduction of the participants and the rules of the project and the house, on May 11th, we expressed our motivations, expectations, contributions and uncertainties using the platform called Jamboard which allowed us to express our opinions and use our creativity to share them with the other participants. Lunch was prepared in the house and it was very simple but it was a moment to get to know each other and to be able to share ideas from the culinary point of view. The following activities of that day were two workshops about employment and entrepreneurship in our countries and the financing and resources available to help the latters. It was an amazing opportunity to learn more about the situation in the other countries and to offer a glimpse of the Italian scenario.
On Friday the 12th of May we took part on a very involving activity in which we had the opportunity to have a debate about the reason of being an employee and the ones of being an entrepreneur. It was very interesting to notice that both sides had valid explanations for defending their positions and that the subject matter of the discussion was overall the riskiness which is always higher in the case of an entrepreneur. The same day we also had the opportunity to represent our counties through food so we, as an Italian team, cooked Carbonara. We really loved the typical dishes of the other countries: the colors, the flavors and the smells of them were so varied and so attractive. Besides the final results, the best part was the preparation during which we were able to sing together and share different aspects of our cultures.
As the days were passing by we were also working on the skills and methodologies to present our business idea: SWOT analysis, SMART goals and leadership skills are just some examples of what we worked on. Two participants from our team, Cosimo and Filippo, had a small workshop about Public Speaking and Effective Communication where we tackled one by one the different aspects to be aware of when delivering an elevator pitch. The work proceeded in pairs and then in small groups till a plenary session of review. The workshops and activities culminated in individual presentations of the elevator pitch on the May 17th. Attached you can find a video of part of Filippo Altea’s elevator pitch published by Asociación Entrejuegos. (Link: Video)
Other than focusing on the development of skills and knowledge from the point of view of entrepreneurship, on May 14th we were also involved in an outdoor activity during which we had the opportunity to explore the mountainous area between Alameda and Molina being able to enjoy the beauty of these places. It was a very good occasion in which to understand how much hard work and persistence can lead to amazing things and, in this case, to an amazing view. We had the opportunity to see some caves in the nearest area of Fuente and to go deep in the land, literally. The activity was good and the first experience for someone in the group. Las Romerias: experience Andalusia’s traditions After the workshops of that day, on May 13th, we had the privilege to experience the religious celebration called Romerìa in Fuente de Piedra. It was an honor to be part of such an intimate event, to be part of the everyday life of the little city, to see young and old people being unified by traditions. We were all touched by this celebration and there was no lack of crying.
The next day, we went to the Romería in Alameda during the night being able to see the most modern part of this event characterized by teatral representations in which some of the inhabitants acted and a concert of a Spanish singer. However, the most beautiful part of this Romería were the dancing competitions and the parade we attended on the 15th of May. It was amazing seeing how flamenco was able to connect people of all ages. The Energizers: a fresh start in the morning In order to start the day with energy and positive vibes, after breakfast and just before the beginning of the morning session, some energizers were done. The aim of the energizers is to wake up the body and the mind, to be more focused. They were organized at the beginning by the two facilitators, but, eventually, some of the participants (especially those ones with more experience in projects) offered themselves to do some of these “warm-up activities”.
Usually, energizers have nothing to do with the workshops and the activities of the program, that is why some of them can be used in different projects and people who participated in many of them can contribute more. Life in the House Life in ‘Casa Rural Aire’ was good and chill. We like to stay all together on the couches sometimes or to chill by small groups doing some different activities: sunbathing on the grass in the garden, reading some books, chilling on the bed, sleeping during the pauses (cause we had some late nights!) or doing some card games with other countries’ participants.
ERASMUS TRAINING COURSE “CAN WE TALK ABOUT IT? “
This training course brought together youth workers from Georgia , Italy , Ukraine , Jordan , Spain , Hungary , Azerbaijan , and Belgium to address the topic of non-violent communication.Non-violent Communication is a method of communicating based on compassion and empathy, which can be implemented as a tool for positive social change. It can be used to constructively and peacefully resolve conflicts, talk about delicate topics, and create a bridge among people with differing ideas. The first day of the training course was filled with a variety of engaging activities that helped to set the tone for the rest of the week, introducing the main theme of the project and encouraging connections among the participants through fun and interesting ice-breakers. On that day, the organizers explained to us the timings, the structure, and the objectives of the project. At the end of each day, we had a reflection time to share in small groups our thoughts about the activities, and after dinner, we got to know each other’s cultures better with the International nights. The second day we got introduced to Nino, the trainer who brought us deeper into the topics revolving around communication. We started by addressing the following forms of communication: verbal, nonverbal, and paraverbal. We got involved in games and activities that would help us get in touch with other people’s points of view, talked about SMART goals, management of emotions, assertive communication, active listening. We explored the topics of emotional resilience, different communication styles, and how they can affect interpersonal communication. We had three debates on different days to experience and put into practice what we were learning. It was very interesting to see how we improved our communication techniques from the first to the last days.
In the middle of the week, we embarked on an exciting trip to Borjomi , for a workshop for the local youth of the educational center Chveni Borjomisatvis. We had a “live library” activity in which we engaged in thought-provoking conversations with the teenagers on various important topics such as mental health, education, needs, and opportunities. The workshop was completely in English and we were happy to notice the high level of English among teenagers as well as their openness to discuss different topics. After the activity at the youth center, we headed to the heart of Borjomi, a place famous for its lush nature and sulfur water. Some of us took a refreshing dip in the pool despite the rainy day, while others took the chance to try some typical Georgian delicacies.
Generally, the experience was really great, enriching all participants with new tools and knowledge, ready to put into practice in our youth work. The whole project has been so special because we shared our best wishes, our life choices, and our dreams to communicate our feelings and emotions. During the International nights and during some energizers, we danced, we tasted typical food and drinks of every nation, and during the Italian night, we talked about the Italian stereotypes and explained their meanings.

“Great Success For “Erasmus+ Youth Exchange in Poland!
We are happy to announce that the project ended with great enthusiasm and commitment in the beautiful area of Zakopane in May. 🇵🇱✨ During this youth exchange, the participants had the opportunity to explore the topic of discrimination and the fight against stereotypes through a series of engaging and non-formal activities. 🙌💡
Thanks to the Erasmus+ initiative, young people from different parts of the world have been able to share their experiences and points of view, creating a unique intercultural learning environment. 🌍❤
During the programme, the participants addressed complex issues such as discrimination and stereotypes, promoting awareness and the importance of an inclusive and respectful society for diversity. 💪🌈
Non-formal activities enabled young people to explore these issues in a creative and interactive way, encouraging open discussion, the exchange of ideas and the creation of new perspectives. 🗣🤝
We thank all participants, organizers and partners involved for making this exchange an unforgettable and meaningful experience for everyone. 🤗🌟
We will continue to promote the fight against discrimination and stereotypes, committing ourselves to a more inclusive society that respects diversity. We are proud to be part of this important Erasmus+ project and to contribute to building a better world for all. 🌍💙

“Can We Talk About It?” Training Course
Difficult and sensitive topics are often avoided within the youth work practice as they might evoke strong emotions and heavy discussions which might be stressful for youth workers to handle. Yet, communication is the key. So, can we talk about it?! Effective communication skills are essential to participate in society, to form and share an opinion but also to listen to the other, to feel listened to, to understand arguments and different ideas. From 10 until 17th of May, 28 participants from Belgium Spain Azerbaijan Italy Ukraine Georgia Jordan & Hungary are learning together in Bakuriani, Georgia.
“The first day of the Erasmus+ training course “Can We Talk About It” was filled with a variety of engaging activities that helped to set the tone for the rest of the course. The day began with a clear and self-explanatory introduction, which provided an overview of the course and its objectives. This helped to establish a sense of purpose and direction for the participants, and provided a framework for the rest of the activities. The introduction photo game was a particularly engaging activity, as it encouraged competition and teamwork while also allowing participants to learn more about each other. By forming teams and working together to identify different childhood photos and guessing statements about each other, participants were able to build connections and establish a sense of camaraderie. After lunch, the participants were excited about the change of chairs, which shows that even small changes can make a big difference in creating a comfortable and productive learning environment.
The communication introduction was also a valuable activity, as it provided new knowledge about different forms of communication (verbal, non-verbal, paraverbal). The fun way of summing up the different versions helped to make the material more accessible and engaging, and helped participants to internalize the information more effectively. The exercises to build connection were a bit challenging for some people, as they pushed individuals outside of their comfort zones and into the “stretching zone.” However, this was ultimately a positive experience, as it allowed participants to practice and exaggerate their non-verbal communication skills in a safe and supportive environment.”
“Day 2 during the morning, we met Nino Beruashvili from MinDoor, an international coach and trainer. She gave us an hypothetical text in which we had to write down “who we are” and who we would like to be; then we wrote about the job of our dreams, our passions and which animal we would like to be if we were turned into it. Everyone shared their wishes and life choices, to better understand ourselves and to know each other. The activities of the second day helped us to focus and use imagination to reach a result. Moreover, we worked as a group, we learned to see things that someone can’t see, and viceversa, especially during the “picture game”, in which we had to recognize a sort of “puzzle” from separate pictures.
During the afternoon we discussed several themes, such as empathy, S.M.A.R.T. goals and we practiced debating on the topic of gender equality. Moreover, we had some activities that concerned with anger management: how we can comfort, calm and validate ourselves, how we can solve problems and how we can avoid verbal fight with others, trying to be educated and serene when we communicate our needs.During the evening we had an international party in which Hungary, Jordan and Azerbaijani groups presented themselves, their nations and cultures. We danced, we did a quiz and celebrated all together!”Stay tuned to hear about the rest of our adventures! International Seminar “ Guardians of the European Democracy”, Sofia, Bulgaria 🇧🇬 23/4/2023-I/5/2023, EUROSUD 💫
The international seminar “Guardians of the European Democracy”, which took place in Sofia, Bulgaria from 23/4/2023 to 1/5/2023, was a great event that falls within the context of the Conference on the future of Europe ( COFOE) , which ended in the spring of 2022. With the COFOE, the European Parliament, the Council, the European Commission have committed to listen to the voice of Europeans and to follow up, within their respective competences, the recommendations received. Many prominent personalities were present during the seminar days. 😎🌟
The first day of the Seminar focused on welcoming foreign participants from various European countries. 👋
Guest of the second day of the International Seminar was Andrey Kovatchev, President of the Union of European Federalists in Bulgaria who illustrated the follow-up of the COFOE Recommendation to involve young people in European issues and values. 🙌
During the third day of the seminar, the use of the “Together.eu” platform for the development of youth activism in the context of the promotion of European values was illustrated by Tanya Chuntova, PR of the European Parliament Office. 💻🌍
In the afternoon we went to visit the Bulgarian Parliament, which was followed by the ECFR (European Council for Foreign Relations) conference on the role of the EU in the context of the rivalry between the USA and China at the “House of Europe”. During the fourth day, however, the role of sport in the formation of a common European identity was discussed. 🌍🏟️
The fifth day of the International Seminar was instead dedicated to strategies for involving disabled people in European initiatives and promoting their inclusion and active citizenship. The highlight of the fifth seminar day was the visit of the German ambassador, Irene Planck, who illustrated Germany’s point of view on the future of Europe. 🤝🇩🇪
The crucial moment of the sixth day of the seminar was instead the videoconference with Sandro Gozzi, member of the European Parliament and President of the Union of European Federalists, who illustrated the growing role of citizens in the process of European renewal. During the week day, among the activities proposed, I found the “interactive session” on the involvement of young people in European Democracy by James Joy, of the “Young European Federalists” (JEF) particularly interesting. 💡💬

“Young Audiovisual 3“ Youth Exchange
This youth exchange “Young Audiovisual 3” consisted basically of the production of short videos and the learning of some tips for shooting videos , some rules, and advice .In the first day there was a general introduction . We understood schedules , duties , and most importantly the people involved with us in the project . Then the facilitators asked us to write on some sheets 4 adjectives that described our personalities . We did a first individual video about our identity represented by that adjective .
They always tried to divide us into several groups, we liked the fact that they wanted to us work with people from other countries . It was very stimulant and gave us the possibility to not be always with our team and to know better each one of us. In the days after, we shoot other videos , one was about the personal branding and how to discover better it. At last, in the final project we choose our own team and were free to create without a main topic , another thing that we liked a lot because we could express freely .Technically, in these days, we learnt how to do a storyboard and how important it is for shooting . We learnt the rule of thirds, the different types of framing , and in which case it’s better to use one instead of another. All of this thanks to the amazing and professional knowledge of Veso , a video maker, who led some workshops for us. While planning , shooting and editing , facilitators helped us in every way they could.
At the end, we can say that this project really worth it . We achieved personal goals and knowledge about main topics of audiovisual production . We figured out also that it’s not so simple to shoot videos and edit them, it’s a lot of time and effort, and it’s not as easy as we thought before this exchange .Not only that, but we think that these types of youth experience are really motivating and could give you a positive ending , both for knowledge and for friendships .Furthermore, we enjoyed our big group and the fact that we were all so different gave us the possibility to explore different ideas and thinking and to have so different videos about the topics we had .So, we can say that we achieve results on many fronts, interpersonal, and technical and the expectations that we had were more than satisfied .ITALIAN TEAM : Alessia , Anna , Alessia , Daniele , Simona
“Inclusion For Empowerment”Training Course
Let us share with you our freshly finished project “Inclusion for empowerment” – a training course, under Erasmus + program, which we hosted in March from 18th till 25th, 2023. As it happened to be a second stage, most of our participants, 37 youth workers from 5 countries, already knew each other, and we also welcomed new friends among us. Together we could focus on our main topics: Inclusion and Self-Development.As our main goal was inclusion, we were delighted that a certain number of participants with visual impairment accepted our invitation to the project to attend, to share and to enjoy altogether! Some youth workers have been focusing on supporting people with visual difficulties for many years and their experience was enriching to all of us.
All the information was presented by interesting workshops educating others on topics, such as sports and games for visually impaired people, guiding dogs and general interaction tips and recommendations. Also, our guest speakers Mariam Mikiashvili, Vocational education policy expert for disabled people, and Esma Gumberidze, Member of the Advisory Council of Persons with Disabilities of Tbilisi, raised our awareness on legal challenges of visually impaired people.Beside activities linked to the inclusion, we explored different activities promoting teamwork, self-confidence, emotion management and communication skills. One of the pleasant activities was a Beyond ceramics workshop by Irina Salmina, who introduced us to some very basic pottery trivia and showed us a few techniques in order to make our own masterpieces.
We sincerely thank our guest speakers Mariam Mikiashvili, Esma Gumberidze and Irina Salmina as well as all our partner organizations NGO Genesis from Czech Republic , Sağlam Düşüncə Gənclər Təşkilatı • SDGT from Azerbaijan , E U R O S U D from Italy and RVNB “Redzi mani” Latvia !
Erasmus+ Training Course “Broken Windows” Suceava, Romania (17-26 March 2023)
On March 17th 2023, we gathered in Mânăstirea Humorului, a small rural village near Suceava, in the North-East of Romania (not far from the border with Ukraine) to attend a Training Course against discrimination, financed by the European Commission. We were twenty-eight participants – aged between 18 and 35, mostly youth workers – coming from thirteen different European countries, each of us with an unique individual story, cultural background and point of view.
Here, we had the opportunity to appreciate the delicious Romanian food and to immerse ourselves in the breathtaking natural landscapes of Bucovina. Guided by our devoted trainers, we explored the “Broken Windows” theory and put it into practice through non-formal learning methods, such as the “Learning Cafe” , theatre sketches and art workshops . In order to explain the meaning of the theory and briefly illustrate our project, we created a blog , a short documentary film and an educational movie .This Training Course allowed us to unleash our curiosity and creativity , while not only developing our skills and contributing to prevent discrimination, but also creating significant bonds and long-lasting memories with the other participants from all over Europe and Caucasus, from Portugal to Georgia, from Lithuania to Malta.
During the eight days of the project, we got to know each other deeply and became a very cohesive group. We explored and experienced the beauty and hospitality of Bucovina. We learned about our sending Organisations and about the Countries & Cultures of each and every one of us, tasting every flavour and dancing to all kinds of music. But most importantly, we challenged our preconceptions and prejudices, returning home with a new perspective of the world, of the people we met and especially of ourselves. Each Erasmus+ project is an unrepeatable and unforgettable experience: a challenge and an opportunity to get involved, learn and share our knowledge in a truly intercultural, vibrant and dynamic atmosphere. To the next upcoming project! Giuliana B.

The goal of the course was to teach youth workers how to use Slam Poetry to engage young people in democratic life and self-expression. The training activities were divided into two groups: social and training. Social activities included a welcome evening, team building, an intercultural night, and a farewell party. Training activities included youth participation, mock debates, presentations on democratic values and non-formal value matrices, and self-reflective poems.
During the event we were encouraging young people to practice Slam Poetry and write about Erasmus+ and benefits of youth mobility . The activities was developed with the support of Giada Rox Cracco that was participant in the project.
here’s a short slam poem about Erasmus:Erasmus, oh Erasmus The program that opens doors To new cultures and new horizons The chance to study abroad and exploreFrom the streets of Paris to the canals of Venice Erasmus takes you on a journey To learn new languages, make new friends And expand your mind with new learning
You’ll see the world in a different light With Erasmus, you’ll broaden your sight From the Northern lights to the Mediterranean You’ll travel far and wide with endless potentialErasmus, oh Erasmus It’s not just a program, it’s a lifestyle You’ll come back a new person with a fresh perspective Ready to take on the world with style
The project’s impact was expected to reach beyond the training course and into partner countries. A session on Youthpass and Erasmus+ was included, and daily reflection and evaluation allowed participants to evaluate their own learning process.
