Pino Pascali Museum
Pino Pascali Museum was born in 1998, when an important bequest of works and memorabilia belonging to the artist by the family, was donated to the museum.
In 2010, the Museum was transformed into the Pino Pascali Foundation, a joint venture between the Apulia Region and the Municipality of Polignano a Mare, with a statute and internal regulations. The current headquarters is a restored former municipal slaughterhouse, overlooking the sea.
The Foundation’s activity moves its steps from the figure of Pino Pascali, one of the most important exponents of Italian and international art during the Sixties, who died at only 33 years in Rome. Pino Pascali is a fundamental reference point for the development of the museum’s exhibition activity.
The Foundation works in “containers” in order to offer a vision of art that is as eclectic as possible and in line with the main avant-garde linguistic research of the moment.
In addition to a substantial number of works by Pino Pascali, the Foundation exhibits the works of the most significant Apulian artists and the works of the artists who won the Pino Pascali Prize.
The permanent collection and temporary exhibitions provide the public with a cultural offer in line with the most appreciated museum standards in the world, so much so that in 2013 the First Prize as Best Contemporary Art Foundation of Italy will be awarded.
The programming, of national and international importance, focuses on multidisciplinarity and innovative content, proving to be effective in order to create a territorial cultural development linked to contemporary art.
The Pino Pascali Foundation continues with the aim of expanding the cultural and artistic offer of Apulia and is involved in establishing collaborative relationships with other public bodies and prestigious private institutions in order to insert the Foundation in regional, national and international circuits.
Many personalities from the scientific and artistic world are constantly involved in the Foundation’s projects. Particular attention is given to young artists and to the world of school through the realization of didactic paths and seminars within each exhibition proposal.
